What is lacking from our education,
is understanding our mind, our inner life.
Education is oriented outward towards the material world.
We do not teach our children about their inner world of emotions, of compassion, of ethics, and of insight into who we really are.
As a result, we do not know how to find deeper happiness.
We do not know how to manage our unruly emotions of anger, jealousy, pride, compulsive desire, and greed.
When we are constantly focusing outward and facing major loss, we are at a loss for how to grieve in a healthy way.
We often lack the inner strength of healthy self-confidence, and wallow in doubt, insecurity, and guilt.
Learning about our inner world gives us the courage and tools to tackle these negative emotions, finding inner peace and meaning in our life.
